    Warmth of Winter

National Parks remind us of how the native land must coexist with humans and the urban sprawl of modern cities. We owe thanks to our forebears for their foresight in campaigning to preserve this invaluable natural bushland. Established in 1897, the Royal National Park is the world’s second-oldest national park, following Yellowstone National Park in the U.S.A.

Even though governments have preserved land for national parks, it does not confer individuals the right to alter or exploit the remaining free land.

People live and work near the national parks, so the community, including the government, needs to engage in thoughtful discussions about their conservation.

The community must continue to manage and, if necessary, protest against the urbanisation resulting from unrestrained property development, cultivation, agriculture, mining, and invasive recreational demands.

These activities exert pressure on, or at worst cause the destruction of, these indigenous lands and, consequently, the native flora and fauna.
